    FATHER CHRISTMAS

    of Weston Missouri

If you've ever been to the quaint little historical town of Weston Missouri, you have most likely met Father Christmas. He has been a true shining light of the Christmas season for 33 years! He is the one and only for all of these years. He interacts with everyone, young and old, and is a pure delight!

For many years, Father Christmas also shared his time doing photography portraits with people and their pets. This was a major fund raiser benefiting the Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society (LAWS), of Leavenworth Kansas.

I created this sculpture in his honor. This sculpture was created completely from polymer clay over a wire armature. The work includes a large glass dome cloche with a black wooden base to safely display the sculpture and keep it dust free.

The costuming of Father Christmas is exquisite in person. Besides a lush deep red velour coat with a satin royal blue lining, his costume is adorned with trinkets, bells, pins, charms, and more to create his magical and very successful vintage look. He holds a wooden staff topped with a brass ball. Each element of his costume has been carefully and intricately recreated in this sculpted work of art.

Father Christmas has been a well-welcomed part of the Holiday Season in Weston Missouri for a very long time. He has been professionaly photographed by Hallmark of Kansas City and Better Homes and Gardens. Publications and various manufactured products including literature and advertisements have featured his character. Over the years, his image has been on various products, from greeting cards to candy tins. But, he stated, he has never had a portrait sculpture of himself before.
