March of the Teddy Bears

Kansas City

From the final 150 teddy bear winning design entries, I had a total of 6 entries I designed and then fabricated for the Teddy Bear Parade. Including a commissioned work by Kansas City Parks and Recreation.

Kansas City was treated to a colorful playground of imagination with the March of the Teddy Bears in 2002. The event was a city-wide public art event featuring over 150 artist-designed fiberglass bears, following the success of the 2001 Cow Parade, this locally organized celebration brought smiles and creativity to streets parks and landmarks across the metro. The event coincided with the 100th anniversary of the beloved teddy bear. Proceeds supported Children’s Mercy Hospitals and the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City with a fundraising goal of $500,000. The Kansas City Star sponsored the event and published a full-color 136 page hardcover book featuring the bears and their creators.
